Tree Branch Cake Stand made for the Jones Victorian Estate (714) 343-1964

Hi!
I have to tell you that I just love my job!
As I look at these pictures, they just make me smile!

I want to send out a huge thank you to Susan's Father-in-law, Steve Moore, for creating the cake stand of her dreams. She had found a picture and that particular stand was really pricey!
Steve came to the rescue and made it just for her!

He even carved a heart with their initials, just like a real tree!!
We added birds to the limbs and flowers on top and waa laa, an amazing display!

The cake was stenciled beautifully by ABC Cakes and a bird's nest was tucked beside it.

Hanging Birds in the windows, frames with canning jars filled with flowers on the lattice work, vintage blue/green corning ware on the window sills, they all added that special touch that made the cake stand the true centerpiece on the design!
Thank you again Steve! I love it!

There's always a solution! Let's get together!
Smiles,
Michelle Gregory

Wedding Trends for 2021! The Jones Victorian Estate (714) 343-1964

 Hi!

Here comes the wedding trends for 2021! I sourced them from Harper's Bazaar, Pinterest, Greenweddingshoes, Wedgewoodweddings, Onefabday, Weddingwire, theKnot, countless blogs and even from the UK, all for a quick look at all the excitement!

1. RELAXED VIBES/BREAKING THE RULES: The couples are choosing to host less structured events with the emphasis on fun and designs that don't fit the classic mold. The celebrations  have more lavish decor, color, great food, entertainment and amazing photography. The focus is on mingling and conversation with quality over quantity.

2. HANGING ACCENTS: The florist are creating clever hanging florals from chandeliers, from wire, from lamps, whatever is up high. Sites are creating more overhead lighting with chandeliers, Chinese lanterns or large flowers, tiny lights, and bulb lighting. The results are stunning. Even at the Jones, we are adding more lights to our already stunning backdrops to create more magical appeal.

3. SUSTAINABILITY: The emphasis is on putting sustainability as a top priority. I think we have all had enough waste of the throw away utensils, plates, cups and etc from 2020. It is spilling into the Wedding Industry and I am thrilled. They want to reduce their carbon footprints! The awareness of all the dumping  in the land fills is giving people new incentives not to waste. It is now all about purchasing locally (Etsy or a garden supply for flowering plants), finding a venue with natural and beautiful backdrops (YAY  JONES VICTORIAN ESTATE), Meals that are based on raw ingredients from Farmer's Markets and even implementing VEGAN options,  finding local spirits (breweries in your neighborhood) for the bar supplies, local entertainment and prioritizing how ethical and sustainable their wedding dress designer practices are. It is about finding out about what they are buying and who they are supporting.

4. OVERSIZED EVERYTHING (OVER THE TOP!): Is it a wonder? Since 2020's designs were rationed, it is the oversized fun with a HOLLYWOOD GLAMOUR and BOHO (Bohemian) VIBE touches that are the rage. Large flowing bouquets,  long flowing veils, two gowns or dresses instead of one, Grooms with a change too, bouncing or groupings of balloons, sparkling hair accents, chandelier earrings, pearls, rhinestones and glitter galore,  and lots of accented colors of Ochre, Mustard, Buttery with lush greens, and the dusty hues are integrated into the theme.  I love the mismatching of China and these refresgubg color palettes.

5. HEIRLOOM INVESTMENTS: Connecting back to our past whether it is a grandmother's old China or her jewelry or even a gown, this is front and center. It is those relationships that were so devastated during this pandemic and the need to embrace them now is a priority. The treasured items that mean so much are being repurposed for and in the wedding decorations creating new memories with the accent of the past. Couples are bringing items such as candles, mirrors, and even furniture. It's about creating a personal atmosphere with history.  Here at the Jones Estate, we create just that. If you are missing those items, we have them here; vintage China, silverware, linens, quilts, chandeliers, crystal and more that will help link you to the past and history.

6.  DIY: This is a year, DIY projects are not only being embraced but cultivated. With the enormous amount of tutorials on line, family and friends coming together to create one of a kind decorations. With the watchful eye of the Bride and Groom, these items are reflecting their style while bringing out the fun!

7. OUTDOOR EVENTS: What can I say? The Jones Victorian Estate has hosted outdoor events for over 140 years. It does not get any better than that! The events might have fewer guests but the emphasis on close family and friends brings more meaning and love to the event and it has never been more necessary than right now.

There is lots to look forward to in 2021 and beyond. Contact us today and let's see how we can make your dreams come true!

SPECIAL SEATING... COUCH FOR MY BRIDE AND GROOM! AT THE JONES VICTORIAN ESTATE (714) 343-1964

Hi!
Have you given any thoughts about where you will be seated and on what?
No?
I have!

Kaily and Aaron wanted something different. Even though Chiavari chairs a grogeous, they were looking for something else...something special.
Their theme colors were green, brown/black and gold.
We just happen to have a vintage green couch that we offered to them.
It worked perfectly!
I couple of comfy pillows added and an instant hit!

Kaily's centerpieces were made of fresh Magnolia leaves.
The contrast of the leaves were just what she was looking for!
They carried her theme throughout the decoration!

Guest tables... with mini herb bouquets tied with gold twine for Aaron! His love for plants made this match elegant and earthy.

Their seating display?
A magnolia leaf and asparagus fern garland was added to accent their gold mirror!

What is your dream?
Let's get together and have some fun!

Crystal Cake Stand... Where's the Crystals? the Jones Victorian Estate (714) 343-1964

Hi!
Ah, an inspiration!
Sometimes an inspiration is spectacular and exciting but a bit out of the budget. That's where I come in. It's my job to find a way around a design to make it reflect the Bride's style, her color scheme and her wallet.
My Bride, Diana, found this particular cake design (below) that was gorgeous!
She loved the hanging crystals but was having trouble creating it within her budget.
This was our start.. our inspiration!!

At the next meeting,  we discussed the picture in detail. I explained the many options available to her,  all of which were a challenge, except one.   I brought out a variety of my crystal cake stands to get a better visual.  Each of them  unique with different styles and sizes. We found two that she loved and that would be perfect for the project and a perfect start.

I dug around my supplies and found crystals from an old chandelier that I had saved. Diana's friend had a bag full of crystals from a garage sale. We now had all of our supplies and a simpler design that would cost her nothing!!  But most importantly, a design that she loved! Wow!!!

One last issue; her pink. She wanted pink flowers added to the design.

I played with the crystals and on each stand. The top stand had scalloped edges and it was perfect for attaching the crystals. With her approval,   I was ready to go!

 Crystal stand number one!

I began wiring the crystals with clear fishing line and crisscrossing them across the top of the stand. I glued the fishing line on the top and a bit on the side to hold all the crystals in place. I continued around the scalloped edge until all the crystals were in place.

Waalaa! The first stand ready to go. The second stand was smaller but this stand had a scalloped edge with a lip on it. It was so easy to attach the crystals to that scalloped lip edges with the wires.
Now, I realize from this raw picture it doesn't look like much! Just two stands with crystals hanging off the edges. But just wait.
Next step, Diana wanted pink flowers on her cake!  It was off to ABC Cakes to help us with that last piece of the design.

Diana decided on  edible flowers in light  and dark pink. All of a sudden, her dream cake was coming to fruition.

Here's her cake! All the crystals on the crystal stands, edible flowers on the butter cream frosting on each layer and the black and white damask linen.

Cake cutting at its finest! With the crystal chandelier above, the vintage pink plates and the Mr. and Mrs. forks set, the Bride and Groom enjoyed their cake and ate it too!

A special Thank you to Michael at MemoriesbyMichael.com for the photographs!

What's your design inspiration?  Don't give up to soon!!

Hot Chocolate for Those Cool Evenings at the Jones Victorian Estate (714) 343-1964

Hi!

It's November and the evenings tend to get a bit cool.
This is the time we roll out those heaters but for a nice added touch, Andrea and Jason asked for a Hot Chocolate Bar!
She provided the marshmallows, mints and chocolate stirring sticks to make this station a real guest pleaser!!

With her bunting theme in mind, we fashtioned this "hot chocolate" bunting above and a "warm up" sign out of an old wooden tray.

The canning jars were the perfect vessel for the goodies! We added a bit of burlap, lace, pearls and twine and these jars were transformed!
Two photographs were added to the heart card holder with the spoons!

I found this sign on-line and fashioned our own set up!

It was a yummy and warm beverage that everyone enjoyed!

What's your dream?

APRONS! Look What We Are Doing at the Jones Victorian Estate. (714) 343-1964

Vintage Aprons
In new and fun ways... not just for cooking anymore!

I thought a new spin on an old favorite would be a fun post!
Aprons! They are so pretty and have been kept in the kitchen for to long.
Here, I have used them as chair covers, decoration accents, for cake cutting and the money dance. They are so much fun and have so many more uses than just in the kitchen.
Check of few of these out...

Chair Covers for all the chairs and a quit for the overlay!

The aprons are the skirting for this table.

We added crystal, plates on crystal candlesticks and flowers to make Brandi's vintage them come alive.

I even had an apron in her colors!!! Perfect to bring the colors in...

For Erica's polka dots and stripes, this apron was a perfect choice.

For Chantelle, her colors were yellow and even Aron joined in on the fun!

Erica's apron was not just for display, she wore hers for the cake tasting!

There are always other ways to display your favorite accent.
Let's talk!!!
Love,
