4 WOMAN WORE THE SAME HANDMADE GOWN FROM 1932...IT WAS AT THE JONES VICTORIAN ESTATE! THANK YOU ABC NEWS

Hi!
This is such a great story that I had to repost it on my blog. I was caught up in the whirl wind of the coverage that it produced.
The main point is that Pilar wore her great-grandmother's gown and it was truly an amazing experience as was for her Mother, Aunt and Great-grandmother. (4 Generations)In a throw away world, it is so extra special to have been part of this wonderful story to host her reception and pre-photos!
Here it goes...
"Four women in one California family have walked down the aisle in the same wedding gown handmade by the family’s matriarch in 1932.
Pilar O’Hara Kassouf, 27, was the most recent woman in her family to wear the dress made by her great-grandmother when she wed Nick Kassouf in September in Orange, California and the reception and before pictures taken at the Jones Victorian Estate

“Once I tried the dress on, I knew,” O’Hara Kassouf told ABC News. “I couldn’t look anywhere else after that. It fit perfectly and didn’t need any alterations, so that was another sign.”
O’Hara Kassouf’s great-grandmother, Maria Teresa Moreno, was a mother of four who learned how to sew before she came to the United States from Mexico as a young woman.
Moreno, who was known as “Grande” to her family, sewed her own wedding dress for her 1932 wedding to Manuel Moreno in Los Angeles.

“She was a very frugal woman who worked hard,” said Marta Prietto O’Hara, Moreno’s granddaughter and O’Hara Kassouf’s mother. When O’Hara got married in 1983, she wore her grandmother’s wedding gown.
“When I saw the fabric I fell in love with it and the dress was in perfect condition,” O’Hara said of the crepe-back satin fabric dress. “I tried it on and I said, ‘I am wearing this dress.’”
O’Hara’s mom, who wore a dress made by Moreno at her wedding, and grandmother updated the dress by cutting a “V” in the back and adding lace trim and beading around the neckline. They also trimmed off some of the dress’s original nine-foot train.
When O’Hara tried the dress on before her wedding, one of her sisters, Elena Salinas, was close by watching.
“I was at our mom’s house when Marta tried it on and I thought, ‘Oh, let me try it on, too,’” said Salinas, who was just out of high school at the time. “I knew. I said, ‘Forget it. I’m wearing this, too.’”When Salinas tied the knot in 1997, she became the third family member to wear her grandmother’s dress down the aisle.

“When I got engaged, I was like, ‘Wedding dress, check,’” Salinas recalled. “It’s just a gorgeous dress.”
O’Hara Kassouf wore the same tiara that Salinas wore at her wedding. She also continued a family tradition by becoming the sixth woman in the family to wear Moreno’s earrings at her wedding."

I had the distinct pleasure of hosting a surprise 15th Anniversary!!
Alex, the groom, called me earlier in the week and asked if he could surprise his bride of 15 years with an impromptu visit?!
Of course the answer was yes. I was trilled and excited that he had called.
What a wonderful surprise for Jamie!!!
I brought out the Champagne and Chocolate Dipped Strawberries and my husband and I toasted the happy couple!!

Duck, Duck, Goose?

Hi!
Meet Mrs. Duck.
She's a mallard duck and comes back each year to lay her eggs and raise her family.

I feel very honored that she is back!
We'll soon have about six to eight ducklings swimming in and out of the falls.
When my twins were young, they would often "duck sit" for the mama duck.
It was the most extraordinary site.
The mama duck would bring her ducklings to the rock's edge to rest.  If the girls were close by, often with their feet in the water, she would actually leave.
Once, she was gone for over an hour.
The girls were concerned when the time started ticking by.
She did return.
She was probably getting her nails done.

Love,
Michelle Gregory

"Fabulous Coordinator"... Thank you!!

Michelle Gregory - the Jones Victorian Estate
Wedding Coordinator/Designer

"To the most amazing Michelle,
It has been nearly a month now and I still can not believe how much of a success you made my wedding. YOU ARE AN AMAZING PERSON! My mom and I may have argued about useless wedding planning but she was so right to convince me to meet you. If you thought we bickered over flowers incessantly, you should have see her to try to convince me to meet you! Our first meeting/session I just was overcome with a wave of comfort and happiness that you would be the perfect fit for the planning of the wedding. Thank you, thank you, thank you for everything you have done: the hospitality at your house, vendor recommendations, meeting with the Church in San Gabriel, phone calls, borrowing of the Shinoda card, last minute/late night meetings, building of a timeline, all your hard work on the Friday before and most importantly just the role you played the day of. There are no amount of "thank you"s that can come out of my mouth to express how I feel. I know you and my mom have been in some contact but we still need to meet up next week to wrap up some loose ends.
Chris and I are forever grateful for all that you have done for us. Thank you for everything and of your tireless efforts you put in. It was extremely helpful having you there. You took a lot of pressure and stress off everyone and we are forever indebted to you for that! You are an incredible human being, a fabulous coordinator and genuine friend to all of us.

With love and appreciation,

Tiffany and Chris Garbis"

Charming touches at the Jones Victorian Estate

Hi~

I met with Sarah, one of my May Bride's, and we both agreed that we wanted to add a few more special touches for her special day!
Since, we're using our
amazing silver candelabras dripping with pearls for the centerpieces, we decided on something romantic with the
same feel for decorations.

Check this out!! (It was cloudy :) when I took the picture this morning.) I made a crystal and pearl wreath to hang at the entrance to the ceremony. Sarah is having a beautiful caligraphy card made with "Sarah and Greg" to add to the wreath.

It's a simple way to add charm and value to her Wedding. Besides, it was so much fun making it and it's gorgeous! Pearls and Crystals, I love it!

Find your own style and have fun with it! The value comes when it's just the right touch!
Love,
Michelle
